Been a while!

Figured it was time to post a few bits and pieces, just some doodling that's taken place over the last week. Need to keep doing this to keep a little bit sane - a good outlet.

National Doodle Day : Bar Lane Studio : 09.02.13

As part of National Doodle Day we took over Bar Lane Studios in York to take on a 12 hour doodle marathon. With an open invitation for people to join in make a contribution while making a donation. Starting at 10am Rich Banks and I got the paper on the wall and got it kicked off, a dodgy coffee machine wasn't going to dampen spirits, we're pros after all.

With no plan for a theme, other than 'something random' we started with the graffiti artists favourite Posca and got some broad strokes in, worked on a rough idea of a mushroom cloud, it never really happened like that, but it gave us an idea to work around.

Plenty of arrows and spirals, after an hour things we're moving along nicely.

By mid afternoon we had a Doodlemanifesto reunion in the making, with Helen, Portia, Carol, Cat all popping in. Felt like old times when we'd be the regulars in The White Swan, doodling, drinking pints and keeping out of trouble on a Tuesday night.

And then there was colour, yes the eyes don't lie, we really did get the colour Posca out.

Below are some close ups of the four corners once we were done, it was a fine day and more enjoyable to some degree than the sister event last October that was the 24 hour doodle. 12 hours of doodling is a little easier to manage.

And here it is finished, complete with topical Findus tribute and dubious mixed media coffee stain.

Here's a stitched together photo showing the view into Bar Lane for the hordes of hammered drunkards staggering around Micklegate on a Saturday night at 10pm. In reality they'd been audible from about 4pm, then once it hit 5pm and it was dark outside we could no longer see them, which was somehow worse.

So after 12 hours of doodling we'd managed to raise some money for Epilepsy Action and had a good laugh into the bargain. We'll be back to do it again some time soon I'm sure.
